“Acupuncture can help promote health and wellbeing through the all the different stages of life,” explains Gabriella Kispal, qualified acupuncturist and clinical director of the Chichester Natural Health Centre. “My youngest client was a three-month-old baby with colic and my oldest a gentleman in his nineties suffering from arthritis.”

Gate of Life – British Acupuncture Council Conference 2018

Gabriella and her colleague, Georgina Wise, have recently attended an annual conference held by the British Acupuncture Council. This year’s venue was situated in the heart of England, in Coventry. The theme this year was Gate of Life. It proved to be a fantastic weekend of learning, friendship, and fun. Many wonderful UK-based, as well as international teachers, joined together for the auspicious event. Acupuncture provides a gateway to a healthier and happier life, and the teachers lectured on this subject from a number of different perspectives.

Acupuncturists working together

Gabriella and Georgie have a great working relationship, as well as both being members of the British Acupuncture Council, they are also sisters. Their unique bond helps their patients to feel comfortable in receiving treatments from either of them. Having two qualified acupuncture professionals at Chichester Natural Health Centre enables the acupuncture clinic to run five days a week, Monday through to Friday.

After the weekend, Gabriella spoke enthusiastically about the conference.  “I had an amazing weekend away with my sister in Coventry. It was our yearly British Acupuncture Council Conference! We had a great time! We were so lucky to attend some of the World’s most respected lecturers! I just love acupuncture, I can’t help it!”

What can acupuncture be used for?

Acupuncture has been used in China for thousands of years, and over the last four decades, it has been widely used in the west. Acupuncture has proved to be helpful in pregnancy management and for the relief of pain in childbirth. It is a gentle therapy for common childhood illnesses such as asthma and skin conditions. Acupuncture continues to be effective for aches and pains, menstrual problems, menopausal symptoms, migraines, high blood pressure, and the frailties of old age. These are just a few of the conditions that acupuncture can be successful in treating.

Gabriella says, “The focus of acupuncture is on improving overall wellbeing. By inserting needles into specific points on the body, we can restore the body’s own natural powers of healing. This helps to strengthen the constitution, boost the immune system and promote positive health – whatever your age.”

By attending seminars like the Gate of Life conference, Gabriella and Georgie are able to continue their professional development as well as keeping in touch with other qualified acupuncturists and discover yet more ways to help their patients.

Before embarking on the wonderful journey called acupuncture, it is important to check that your chosen therapist is a member of the British Acupuncture Council, you can do this easily by going to https://www.acupuncture.org.uk/ and entering your postcode.
